Are you drowning in a sea of stress?

I’ve got news for you – achieving success shouldn’t be a negative thing…

Seeing progress towards your goals and dreams should be energizing – invigorating!

It shouldn’t drain you or make you feel depressed.

Stress isn’t inherently generated by the tasks that you do. You and your brain create it because you’re doing something wrong.

If you associate the word ‘grind’ with your pursuit of success, then this guide could change your life…

I’ve listed these simple principles of stress-free success in (rough) order of importance.

Here’s What We’re Covering:

Focus On Yourself First

Get very straight on who you are and what you want out of life.

Once you know and love yourself, you’ll can avoid things that stress you out.

If you don’t know yourself extremely well, you risk making commitments that make your life a living hell. Commitments that limit your potential as an entrepreneur…

Ask yourself why you want to do what you’re doing. Ask yourself who you want to help, how you want to help them, and why.

From there, focus on being the best performing, most confident version of yourself you can be.

Don’t forget to reward yourself often, and enjoy some of the spoils of life now. Carve out time for yourself every week things that decompress and center you.

Be Confident and Decisive In Taking Action

The truth is, everybody is just making their best guesses based on their experiences…

The ones that win are the ones that avoid procrastination and take constant, decisive action.

Stop worrying if your idea is good, or if you’re doing things ‘right’…

Just focus on taking constant action.

As long as you’re taking action, it’s hard to NOT become successful.

One study on Fast Company showed the main difference between entrepreneurs and serial-entrepreneurs is the realization that every venture and every action has positive a spillover into every future decision you make.

So make that realization!

Don’t worry if you know enough to do something – just do it!

Surround Yourself With The Right People

Nothing is more stressful than having to entertain people who don’t believe in you and want you to be successful…

They will spew negativity all over your hopes and dreams, usually to make themselves more sure of their own life-decisions.

That’s why it’s so important to spend your time with like-minded people. Surround yourself with people who energize and inspire you to succeed, in the way you want to succeed.

If you really want to jump start your success, get a friend or mentor to keep you accountable to your goals. Even better, join a business group or coaching program that will make you truly see how much more you could be doing.

Know What NOT To Do

Don’t do things you don’t want to do. Maybe you shouldn’t stop NOW, but the principle holds true…

If you have tasks to perform that stress you out, phase them out of your life.

You can hire people to do everything from your grocery shopping, to filtering and helping to answer your emails.

There’s an endless stream of time saving software coming out every year.

Don’t be afraid to invest in things that will save you time and energy.

Of course, this can’t be taken to an absolute extreme. But work to phase out or simplify the things that are causing you stress.

There are also complete time-wasters we can cut out of our lives, if we’re truly serious about achieving our dreams…

Most of us watch TV or play video games rather than finish the tasks that need to be done.

Don’t intentionally distract yourself from success just so you can feel stressed out later…

Do yourself a favor – turn off the TV shows and work on what needs to be done instead.

Always Give Your Best Effort

If you’re going to do something, give it everything you’ve got…

In most cases, people care much more about the effort you give than the outcome. It’s a better indicator of how you’ll perform in the future.

If you always put 110% effort into every action you perform, people will quickly take notice – and you’ll gain momentum fast.

Keep Your Word

You’re only as good as your word.

If you break your promises and engagements, people will write you off quickly.

So be dependable and keep your word, and people will know that they can trust you.

Make it a habit to always be at least 5-minutes early to meetings and phone calls. You’ll have the unfair advantage of always starting with the upper hand.

And once again – don’t say ‘Yes’ to things you know you won’t do!

Don’t Be A Dick…

The more likeable and memorable you are, the easier your journey to success will be.

Read books like How to Win Friends & Influence People and How To Talk To Anyone.

Learn how to become a Master of Communication, Body Language, and Conversation.

Address Problems Immediately

The longer you let a problem sit, the worse it will become.

Take care of problems right away, and your mind will be free of anxiety and free to move onto the next task.

Stay Healthy

You know the drill here…

Eat healthy, exercise, and sleep consistently well.

If you don’t, then none of the above will help that much…

Wrapping This Up…

Don’t Fall Into Stressful Patterns

Most people are at fault for creating stress around them.

Some people even subconsciously create it to make themselves feel busy – even though they feel like they’re getting nowhere.

Don’t be like that. Don’t become comfortable with being stressed and depressed.

Start moving toward a less stressful work and personal life NOW.

You only live once! Don’t torture yourself…

  4. Where have you guys been all my life? ๐Ÿ™‚ I found your site about a week or so ago, and I’m slowly working my way through your posts. I read a lot of business and entrepreneurial blogs that are filled with good advice, but you and Kyle have something special happening here. Your focus on the overall quality of life is refreshing, and the way you interact with your readers shows that you care about much more than profit (not that I don’t like money, I totally do!). People like you help me keep my faith in humanity. Thank you.

  5. Hi Will,

I can relate a lot to various parts of your article. The TV and video games are BIG time wasters. I can squeeze in an extra 2-3 hours work by just switching the TV off!

    Great post

    Naomi

  6. Will,

Surprising… but REFRESHING and ENCOURAGING to see a young person posting about responsible eating habits, getting to bed and waking early, and putting up the video games at night in favor of better things. For yourself AND others.

That said, I wouldn’t mind buying you a beer and talking business sometime. IF yer old enough.

    ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Keep Stepping,

    Kurt

  7. Will, you’re the man! Great information and it really gave me the proper attitude adjustment I needed yesterday… thanks again, Brandon.

  10. Sage advice, Will. If you really enjoy what you do you don’t have time to be stressed.

  11. I can vouch for this one Will, more truth here than you even know!

I was once a startup guy, but my life was overtaken by people. Eventually my options slimmed, I burned out, and my brain convinced me my time had gone…

Thanks to StartupBros (and a recent divorce), I am starting to see the light again.

I wish I had an article like this before my FIRST marriage, when the world was still my oyster…

    Thank you for it

    • It’s never too late! If you don’t start your own business and become a financial-BADASS now, then you let all those other people win. I know you won’t let them win Kyle! ๐Ÿ™‚
